 Curry High art students exhibiting artwork at library, mall this weekend
Visitors to the Carl Elliott Regional Library have a few more days to admire the hard work of a few creative minds from Curry High School. Thursday, May 15, is the last day for an exhibition of student works completed during this year’s art classes. While the library only had room for a few displays, Saturday the students will showcase their work at Jasper Mall from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. “It will have more pieces in it,” Boshell said. “We only had room for a few pieces here at the library, but we’ll have more than 50 pieces at the mall on Saturday.”

 Jasper police investigate rash of thefts
Several air conditioning units were stolen over the weekend in the Jasper area and police are asking for the public’s help in finding out who is responsible. The Jasper Police Department has taken numerous reports since Friday morning regarding the theft of central heating and air units from several business and a church in Jasper. “We know of at least 19 units that were taken from several business and a churches in our community since Friday,” Jasper Police Chief Bobby Cain said. “Most of these units were new or almost new.

 Civitan group celebrating charter tonight
After successfully achieving the required 20 members needed to charter a Civitan Club in their town, Cordova residents will hold a charter service to install new members and officers tonight. The ceremony will begin at 7 at Long Memorial Methodist Church. Several district and international Civitan members will be there to speak to the newly installed members and officers. “We will have our installation of members and installation of officers. It is supposed to be a very elegant ceremony,” President Michael Hicks said.
